According to WordPress, it has been 74 days since my last posting. That’s too long. A lot has happened in that time.
As far as the family goes, we have been plagued with health issues. Emma fractured her radius in April. I have been in a soft cast and walking boot since the middle of April due to an old injury. Michael, Emma, and I all had strep within 10 days, and Sofia got scarlet fever four weeks later. Needless to say, we are very thankful for health insurance!
We just completed a family vacation to Disney World. It was great to spend time together having fun after the busyness and illnesses of the spring.
As for the mission stuff…it is one long, ever-evolving process. We received word nearly a month ago that we will not be going to Germany after all. The family we were supposed to partner with in Hamburg will actually be leaving Germany this summer. The husband has finished his PhD in missiology and has only been able to find professor jobs in North America. We are really excited for him, and we completely understand and support their decision.
So now what? We are working on that. The Mission Society has a whole team of people working on it, actually. They know that Michael would do well in an educational setting, so they have been scouring through various mission opportunities for us that would involve a teaching position for him. There are a couple of organizations that we may form secondary partnerships with, so we will be exploring those opportunities.
Despite the fact that our entire situation is up in the air, we are feeling rather peaceful about it. I know that God is preparing our hearts for wherever we end up, whether that is still somewhere in Europe, Africa, or maybe even Asia.
We have put fund-raising efforts on hold for the moment since we no longer have firm details to support. If you feel led, we would still welcome your financial support! We still have training and preparatory endeavors to fund regardless of where we end up. We travel out of the country next month for some training, and that will be expensive. So we will always accept your financial partnership.
The biggest thing you can do for us right now is pray. Pray for wisdom, guidance, and discernment as we examine options. Pray that God will lead us toward a direction where we can be truly used by Him. And pray for continued peace for us all throughout this process.
Grace and peace to you, my friends.
